I have been really disappointed with Obama. But he just kicked Rethuglican ASS!
I wonder, if he has seen the light. Has he realized that he was NOT doing what he needed to do for the people, and maybe he's going to start trying to fulfill his campaign promises?

I wasn't that thrilled with the SOTU...but this... He really took them on with confidence, knowledge and verve.

Dare we hope again?

Is it just "for show?" That's where I'd put my money.

12. He just spanked them in their own retreat.
He just called two of them liars ("that's patently not true, so and so...").

I wonder if anyone you support has that kind of courage. Who DO you support?

And of course you think it's just for show. 'Cause that's how you roll.

I wonder, kiddo - how does it feel to become less relevant by the day?

23. ShortnFiery, I have said MANY times, "I don't want to hear another pretty speech from Obama."
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 02:12 PM by chimpymustgo
I have actually thought he has lied to us shamelessly.

But he seemed like a different man today. I thought his tone and approach conveyed a strength and toughness and HONESTY we haven't seen before. I totally agree - the verdict is OUT until the ACTIONS support the words.

Still, I was impressed. As an earlier poster put it - he KILLED.

28. OK. Enough with the pure negativity.
If you're going to call for "ACTION," then get to offering suggestions about what "ACTION" you expect.

Today, in these threads, you've posted nothing but unsupported attacks on President Obama. No content. No information. No suggestions.

Give us your ideas, not just your attacks, please.

attention. Agreed, he hasn't pushed for Health Care enough-which is currently stalled by the Senate's version...
However the millions of jobs kept or added -like school teachers, cops, transit workers - because of the stimulus money, they don't count for you as "jobs"?
Seriously, perhaps Google would be good for you to check also. And some reliable actual news sources.
Better yet, ask some folks in any of dozens of areas of the federal government whether this is a 'do nothing' presidency so far this first year.
You might be pleasantly surprised at their answers.

Cameras Roll As Obama Schools GOP

President Obama traveled to a House Republican retreat in Baltimore on Friday and delivered a performance that was at once defiant, substantive and engaging. For roughly an hour and a half, Obama lectured GOP leaders and, in a protracted, nationally-televised question-and-answer session, deflected their policy critiques, corrected their misstatements and scolded them for playing petty politics. (Full video and transcript available HERE.)

White House officials told the Huffington Post they were absolutely ecstatic. MSNBC's Luke Russert, who was on the scene in Baltimore, relayed that a Republican official and other GOP aides had confided to him that allowing the "cameras to roll like that," was a "mistake."

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

So effective was the president that Fox News cut away from the broadcast 20 minutes before it ended.

It was the type of performance that Obama's supporters have long demanded and that his own aides have been eager to deliver. The question-and-answer session at the end wasn't initially supposed to be broadcast, but the White House pressured GOP leadership to bring the cameras in. They knew the optics it would generate, a source with knowledge of the planning relayed. Hours before the event began, Republican leaders finally relented.

What resulted was what one Democratic strategist described as, "amazing theater" -- certainly for cable news. Standing on a stage, looking down at his Republican questioners, Obama assumed the role of responsible adult to the GOP children, or, at the very least, of a college professor teaching and lecturing a room full of students.
