Honda recalls cars: Possible Fire Death Traps
2007-'08 Honda Fit Recalled for Possible Fire Hazard

Published Jan 29, 2010

DETROIT — Honda confirmed for Inside Line on Friday that it is recalling 140,000 2007-'08 Fit vehicles in the U.S. because of a master power window switch problem that could overheat and catch fire. The recall is part of worldwide recall of 646,000 Honda Fit/Jazz vehicles built between 2002 and 2008. The Honda recall comes on the heels of a major worldwide recall of Toyota vehicles for faulty accelerator pedals, a devastating one-two punch for Japan's two largest automakers.

2. Are you suggesting that in the case of this switch catching fire the doors will fail to open? (NT)

If you park one of these in your garage, roll up your window and enter the house, this could be very deadly to you and everyone else in the house.

3. THIS IS the problem with parts going to the lowest bidder
american cars have the same issue through the years with recalls ranging from fires to all sort of issues , even wheels coming off.

I worked for ford for 35 years and every year the recalls grew and it was all due to either poor design and parts made by the lowest bidder.

What in the long run do the auto companies gain when they take risks like this? They gain a bad reputation and a leary second buyer and it costs them more to do the recalls than to get better parts and test them .

There is no reason why a window switch should over heat and catch firs unless the contacts over heat because they are cheap and not reaon for gas pedals to stick unless they are of poor design or cheap parts that wear out or bend . Some throttle controls are not even a cable but fully electronic , ford had a few and I pesonally did not trust it. Some have two cables that go first to a speed controm then the actual throttle .

Mnay years back the exploding pinto was to first recall and even with this many years later ford had fuel tank issues that needed additional covers in case of a rear end inpact , they never learn and risk lives in the process.

5. Dell computers is the same way
They got too big and started pressuring manufactures to make parts at lower cost. A few years ago Dell was known for quality. Now they are known for cheaply made computers.

6. I have an old used Dell tower I got three years ago and it keeps ticking.
When I worked for Ford dealerships even in 1980 in their Crown Victoria the main wire harness had tags all over it Made in China. There were wiring issues because the harness through the dash all around the entire body and under the hood were poorly made.

Every single electonic part in a Ford is made outside the US and by the lowest bidder. When things do break and you take them apart it boggles the mind they lasted as long as they did and the parts beign cheaply made are far from cheap to buy.

I always got cars with no power windows or mirror or seats because the cost to replace the parts is just not worth it even though I can do the work myself . still it's not worth it , these things quit with no warning . No A/C either , I roll with the weather , heat is a givaway , free other than a heater core and hoses.

I can open a window with a crank of move the seat with a pull lever or move a mirror. These are nothing more than lazy selling points and are touted to make the car more sellable , well maybe if one is that lazy.

For decades now cars rely on computors just for about anything to work and mainly to run and control the engine one thing quits there you are stuck.

Computors for the home one little thing and you have nothing and repairs are not cheap.

I never went with a newer car I kept my 1973 VW squareback and it's still going and still gets over 30 MPG.
