Today the president made an effort to reintroduce civility to political discourse

I would like to request that DU follow the lead of Pres.Obama and that we try to improve the tone of Democratic Underground. I think we all should take a moment to temper our speech with one another.Most of us are fellow Democrats and Progressives.Some are Moderates. We are like a huge rambunctious family.Families fight and often disagree. I think that is healthy and all ideas should be out in the open.But, as the president said, the tone should be civil.

One thing I have lately observed is th increasing use of over the top language directed toward those with whom some do not agree.IMHO,that should not be acceptable. Democratic Underground used to be a site I was proud to recommend to others.Now often, I would be a bit embarrassed to recommend DU and not because of the content.I would never advocate censorship but sometimes the inappropriate language makes me cringe.I am not a prude and have been known to drop an occasional FBomb myself but some recent postings have been dripping with vulgarity and invective.

If the president can find a way to talk to the GOP, certainly we should be able to find a way to talk to our fellow Democrats. :toast:
