So I'm watching Larry Summers on The Charlie Rose Show tonight

and I've changed my mind about him. I'd been thinking for a while now that he had to go. Now I think he's on our side re: banking regulation and consumer protection. Good 1 hour interview from Davos, where he's attending the World Economic Summit.

1. I think Obamas getting tough.

since he seems to be listening to voelcker again he might have said something like, "OK we tried it your way'..

2. He suppoted the biggest taxpayer ripoff of all time.

So now he says "well ok maybe we need more regulation". Screw him. That like saying we need taller fences around the chicken coop after trucking in a bunch of foxes.

3. You are correct. How about that last question? Charlies asks

him, You have spoken to the Harvard Students about having Central
Truths.... would you share with us a Central Truth which you hold:

Over the years I have come to believe that countries who are most
successful (both at home and in their dealings with the world)
work to have a content and optimistic Middle Class. People in
this group will have jobs in which they can see their own
situations improve in 5 year increments. They will believe their
children will have an even better future than the parents.

This is not an exact quote but very close.

In the past I had picked up that Larry Sommers would come down
on the correct side. I too was becoming doubtful.

Watching him and listening carefully I believe he will do the
right thing. He explained that it will take time but they
work everyday on improving the economy
