Just to contribute, hopefully, an astoundingly good book that sums up a great deal of the forces we are fighting every day, in addition to the political fights we are fighting, due to the so-called "social" media, internet, the nonsense of Facebook and the idiocy of TV, and other distractions.

This is a fantastic book and I advise everybody to read it if you are questioning how things are going right now, politically, technologically and socially.

I agree with his sentiment but to throw social networking in the same category as the brain-rotting Boob Tube is moronic.

TV is a two dimensional articial reality where the user passively accepts the programming.
FB,and the internet in general,is a 3d reality which actively engages the user.
Big difference between the two,imo.

4. I imagine it all depends on how FaceBook is used.

And even if someone is using it for "just fun" that doesn't mean that others are not using it to build a sense of community on important political and social issues.

Fun is always important.
