Illinois Lt. Gov. nominee: "I haven't used any drugs in the past two weeks"
I don't think I've heard a politician use this excuse before.

In the divorce records, Cohen’s ex-wife accused him of using illegal drugs, rages and abusive behavior, including choking her.

“Over the past year my husband has been taking injectable anabolic steroids, including but not limited to Winstrol, Cretin, and Steen, and as a result he has an erratic, explosive temper,” Cohen’s ex-wife, Debra York Cohen, said in a petition for an order of protection. She described rages at their children, his admission to several affairs, and alleged he tried to force himself on her sexually.

Cohen responded to some of the allegations in his petition to visit his children during the couple’s separation.

“Although I may have taken steroids and or performance enhancing drugs in the past I have not utilized any of these drugs in the last two weeks … Although from time to time I have screamed and yelled at my children, that is my parenting style and my prerogative. I have never abused my children, I have never hurt my children and I have never done any harm to them,” Cohen said, according to the records.

Link.

So to review, IL Dems inadvertently nominated for Lt. Gov. an unknown, high-school dropout pawnshop owner with a history of drug abuse and domestic violence and who was previously arrested for pulling a knife on his prostitute girlfriend. Oh, and he has to run with the governor on a ticket. And, uh, there's no way to remove him from the ticket unless he steps down. Which he says he won't do.

Lovely.

2. Oh, you glass-half-empty types.
...Look at it this way: we've just scored the drug-abusing hooker-knifing pawnshop owner vote.

8. Simple. The candidates obviously weren't vetted and then
uninformed voters chose the guy because he had a D after his name without knowing a damn thing about him. That's why it's important to do a little bit of research before you vote. A lot of people in Illinois really like Quinn, but I don't know if they'll be willing to vote for him with this loser attached to him. But then again, we vote some real slime into office here, so who knows?

10. There were lots of people running for Lt gov with Ds next to their name.
Who is stupid enough to believe that job fairs will turn around the economy? That's what his asinine commercials said. I'm amazed anyone would vote for job fairs to help our economy. I hope they can figure out a way to get him to resign soon. This is REALLY bad.

11. Never saw his commercials
but yeah, I don't see how job fairs would help when there are no jobs. I'm with you on trying to get him to drop out... Quinn is a good guy and he shouldn't be forced to run with this jackass.

12. Nice try, but this was a primary ...
... everybody on the ballot "had a D next to their name". I have no clue why people voted for this one. I'm guessing few people bothered to research the candidates for lieutenant governor, since there were so many more important hotly contested races.

15. I know that, but obviously they didn't know a damn thing about the
guy other than that he was a democrat. I assume they just randomly picked someone, thinking he must be okay because he had that D next to his name.

5. i'd be a little more precise
and say he has a history of DV ALLEGATIONS against him.

he hasn't been found guilty in any court of any DV offense, and has not admitted to any of the allegations.
