Let me check my moral compass here.

WWHD?

Well, first she'd check and see what Bush and McCain have to say.

The compass says, "What she did was inappropriate."

Honest. I think Bill sings better; remember his Imagine duet? I thought his singing was adorable, too. Just sayin'. I think most of America will identify with her.

11. and it's all to her benefit
she looked incredibly human doing that - and that's no small shakes. She's perceived as some sort of soulless automaton.

Singing that way endears her to many.

And her response to the press about the "evil, bad men" question made her even more human. She's been afraid for a long time to come across as a normal, free-speaking person. I think these stories make her much more likeable.

26. but even better was her response
to her question backstage about it. She laughed and said "You guys always say I should have a better sense of humor, and when I do, I get psychoanalyzed!"

It was a pure moment for her. She needs more of them. She came across as totally real and loveable.

:eyes: It would be real news if she sang it perfectly cause she would be about the only one who ever did! No one can sing that song unless they are a professional and the majority of them can't even do it.:silly:

23. Oh jeeze... I remember when someone sang the national
anthem and they screwed up... and some racsist jackass said 'And that's why we don't let Mexicans sing the song'

And so I turned around and asked him what the name of the song was he couldn't answer me. Pissed me off so bad.

28. Her off-key rendering of our truly crazy national anthem ..
... made her very endearing to me. Keith Olbermann played a short clip of it tonight, and my husband said, "And you say _I_ sing off-key!" We both love her for trying to sing the thing rather than lip-synching, because she must know she has a tin ear. As far as actually singing the national anthem, I'll bet nine out of ten citizens can't stay on pitch all the way through, especially up there on "freeeeee...."

29. They really need to lower the national anthem by a fourth. F major instead of Bb.
Then most people could actually hit the high notes.

30. Nikki, but then how could we sing ...
... the LOW notes? The range on that thing is punishing. I remember singing it once every month for a year at our local Elks' meetings decades ago and I hated it then. I haven't changed my mind about it. Fitting that the congress under Herbert Hoover passed the resolution making it our national anthem the year after my birth, both events followed immediately by the Great Depression.

...sing national anthems ON key?

The average national anthem is right up there with "Tomorrow" in "difficulty" ranking.
