Anthony Weiner: "I don't know what the President believes on some of these big issues"

Did anyone else catch that? I think it was significant, seeing as Weiner is one of the few in Congress who is pro-active in true health care reform.

Also, he said this, and I paraphrase: "I think Obama's been doing the LBJ strategy, trying to get 60 votes, when there are 100 million Americans watching who are wondering what's going on."

3. We rarely know what any president *really* believes on any issue...

...nor am I certain that many insiders should. A politician's stated principles usually turn out to be flexible, politics being the art of the possible more than the ideal.

There can be little doubt, though, that President Obama is ducking and weaving to get 60 votes in a Branch of government he doesn't run. When one of those votes is Lieberman's, for instance, nothing that we could properly call principle can possibly be involved.
