I am watching him on MSNBC, and in front of a big crowd, he is great.

5. Olbermann said he arrived in SC at noon and by 4PM, found himself speaking Southern, too!
It's infectious.

4. Black folks can normally acquire a "southern" accent at will......
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 08:17 PM by FrenchieCat
It actually is not unusual.....as even us Black folks in the North speak with somewhat of a southern accent when we feel like it. Is there a problem with that?

6. It comes naturally. I do it myself when I'm around southerners.
It just comes out.

13. Really?
I was born in South Carolina and have lived in either North or South Carolina all my life and I've never had a Southern accent. (My parents do, so it's not like I was raised by non-Southerners.) Like many of the current crop of candidates I can fake having one (better than they can, I'm sure) but it doesn't just "come out" unless I really want it to.

16. Maybe it's a northern thing.
I'm from the north. I have distant relatives from the South.

And as FrenchieCat said, it's a black thing too. The southern accent just comes out every now and then for us.

17. Gottcha.
I'll admit that even for me, there are certain words (like y'all) that are part of my vocabulary that probably give me away.

8. These photo-ops are NOT debates..
A college debate coach needs to run these things and choose the TOPIC..
ONE topic a week
and put them through their paces..

at then end of the debate season, we might have a peek into their thoughts..

These bogus questions tell us nothing.

12. It freaked me out when he said he was new to the Senate during Terri Schiavo
My God, wasn't that just a few months back?
And, if I hear one more comment from him indicating that his wife is critical or harsh, I'm going to tune him out. He thinks it's cute. I don't think it's cute or endearing.
