Hospice helped dying man lose his virginity
A young disabled man who receives care for his life-limiting illness at a hospice run by a nun spoke yesterday of his decision to use a prostitute to experience sex before he dies.

Sister Frances Dominica gave her support to 22-year-old Nick Wallis, who was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Sufferers usually die by their thirties.

Mr Wallis told staff at the Douglas House hospice in Oxford that he wanted to experience sexual intercourse. He explained that he had hoped to form an intimate and loving relationship with a woman, but his disability had acted as a barrier.

He told The Daily Telegraph: "It was a decision two years in the making and I discussed it with my carers and my parents. Telling my mother and father was the hardest part, but in the end they gave me their support.

3. Why not?
Parents and kids should be able to talk about sex openly and honestly. I applaud him for talking to his parents. Shows a lot of trust and maturity on his part. Given his tragic circumstances, my guess is he's had to be.

10. From reading the article, he had no choice...
as he lives at the hospice, but arranged to have the Prostitute visit him at his home while his parents left them alone. He would have needed both his parents consent and co-operation.

Good for them!

To limit any liability the Hospice would face.

2. How sad
I hope they find a woman who is caring and understanding, so that the experience is not a disappointment for him. For I learned long ago that sex is the smallest part of love.

11. A good sex worker
knows how to create a fantasy world tailored especially for her client.

That doesn't mean streetwalker trying to feed a habit. That means a higher end sex worker who is much more than a set of orifices.

Good luck to the kid. Duchennes MD is one of the saddest things out there.

14. Good for him, good for his parents. I would have done the same
thing for my son if he was in such a situation.

8. Of Course, You See Where It Happened
This could Never happen in ultra-conservative U.S.

The moral folk would be all over this story and this guy, condemming him up and down. Can't you just hear it now?

The religious, right wing, facist, heads up their asses, segment of the U.S. population, would never allow something like this to go down here.

We live in such a fucked up country, methinks sometimes.

12. Totally agree there...
There would be protests at the hospices, demonizing the parents and the workers just for starters. It sickens me to think of it.

20. Yep, there'd be protests, and probably even Jeebus on a Trailer Hitch would
show up.

13. LOL, just because this isn't publicized here doesn't mean that it doesn't happen here
I really can't say more in order to protect a number of people, but this sort of occurence isn't limited to the UK, nor to those suffering from Duchenne MD.
