Today's Republican health care talking point: "Let's start over with a blank sheet of paper."
Edited on Thu Feb-25-10 07:45 PM by Berry Cool
(now, with typo fix!)

President Obama's and the Dems' reply: "Like hell. We've been working months and months, or really, years, to get ANYTHING down on this damn sheet of paper. Now we're going to act on it, with you or without you."

Republicans try again: "Look, maybe we weren't clear the first time. We think it would be a good idea to just shake the Etch-A-Sketch and start over."

Obama and Dems: "Because you don't like the picture? Too bad. We are not shaking up the Etch-A-Sketch and turning it over to you so that you control both the knobs. Because we know what you'd do: turn and twist them until they spelled out 'NO.'"

Republicans try again: "Hmm, let us rephrase this. We think it would be a good idea to just wipe the slate clean. Dip the eraser in water, spray the marker solution on the whiteboard, whatever you want to call it, and..."

Obama and Dems: "No. We are not going to do that."

Republicans: "Hmmm...I know! See, this bill is like an ice rink, and the ice has all these scratches and ruts on it from things we don't want, so we need to call out the Zamboni and--"

Obama and Dems: "NO."

I loved it. :-)

8. Those were too obvious.
Because that, of course, was all they wanted to write on that blank sheet of paper.

Oh yeah, and lower taxes.

13. Of course the senators don't read their emails BUT
we should send them the link that says that tort reform, or malpractice, is only under 1% of the cost of the cost of Health Care. I don't know why the republicans mess their pants trying to pretend it is more.

4. Best part about the R plan - when you write "No" on Side A of that blank piece of paper
you still have a blank piece of paper on Side B.

6. Republicans Don't Want Heath Care Reform
They are totally happy with wht is. Why do we keep having a conversation with them. They totally believe in reconciliation when they're in charge, so why shouldn't we push for it when we're in charge.

12. CNN is complaining that the Democrats had more talk time than republicans.
Michael Steele said President Obama had more time to talk and present his views along with those of the other Democrats. More time than republicans and CNN agreed. The counted the minutes.

First who called the summit and was in charge - President Obama.
So when the republicans asked questions etc should he have stood with his hands in his pockets and played dumb.

And since he was in charge he was bound to have more talk time, or maybe they thought that he should have given the chairmanship to McConnell and sat like a statute. CNN keeps spewing this crap and the country eats it up.

Go to CNN political ticker and try to post a comment that says the republicans are a bunch of kiddies and that since it was Obama's summit he got to ask questions and answer questions and of course should have more talk time. Bet they won't post it.

16. That was their game plan
Set up a situation where they can make the Democratic leadership in Congress and the President look stubborn. I predict it will play well in flyover country.

and it didn't play well here.

I predict it closes in Peoria.
