Democrat: "OK, we have full set of house plans here. It's two story brick with a full basement and an attached three car garage. We have all the necessary permits and the owners are very anxious to get into this new house. We can start excavating the basement tomorrow morning. We should be able to start setting forms for the basement walls by----"
Republican: "WHOA! Slow down will you? I think the plan is way too ambitious. They don't need to spend that much. We can build a smaller house with a carport for a lot less."
Dem: "Uh---excuse me! THIS plan is what the people want. THIS is what they asked for. Now, let's get those excavators in here tomorrow and---"
Repub: "The people have rejected that."
Dem: "They---who---what the hell are you talking about?"
Repub: "The people know that the roof should be the first order of business. Then, the wiring, plumbing and the landscaping. Here's a list of friendly sub-contractors I've already spoken to."
Dem: "Those are all a part of the total plan, but they are necessary parts of the whole. And, things have to be done in the correct order. We have to start with the basement, then move on to framing, then the other phases in order. The roofing will actually be one of the last---"
Repub: "Why should we have to do the whole plan at once? Why can't we just do parts of it, like I suggested? It's what the people want us to do."
Dem: "WHO are these people you keep talking about?"
Repub: "You know, the people."
Dem: "The only people I care about are the people who sent us here to build THIS house! They don't want "parts" of a house. They want a HOUSE."
Repub: "I took a poll last night, and it shows your favorables are slipping"
Dem: "Stand over there; out of the way. I'll build the house without you."
And, the people lived happily ever after.
