Neither is the top-of-the-page headline, but neither did I claim that they were.

HuffPo typically features a significant top-story, with the other 99% of the page being devoted to garbage in the form of impassioned opinion pieces masquerading as fact.

The fact that they cover entertainment/gossip doesn't make the GOOD content worthless. It simply means they cover entertainment/gossip in addition to substantive topics.

Arguing that the entire site is worthless would be akin to saying that MSNBC is worthless because of (fill in the blank with Lock-Up or some other show you think is sensationalistic). People can and should simply skip over the topics they have no interest in and enjoy the ones they do. Same with the entertainment portion of Countdown or Maddow's 'Just Enough'. Some people hate those, but it has nothing to do with the rest of the show IMO.

6. The majority of HuffPo's coverage is celeb gossip and pseudoscience bullshit

The blogs are, at best, hit-or-miss, so they can't reliably be counted in the "plus" column.

You get one solid story per day, if you're lucky, and that one's the headliner. Sometimes a smaller piece will be pretty good, but not uniquely so; that is, you can read more or less the same story at any of a thousand online outlets.

And HuffPo's fluff-content garbage is so bad that it makes Hollywood Insider look like Now with Bill Moyers.

I think the one story a day line is clearly hyperbole, but I understand your sentiment (although again, I disagree with it). I for one am glad HuffPo exists.

More and more progressives are getting exposure because of it, and if the MSM is turning online to grab memes and headlines, I'd much rather they come from HuffPo than say, the Drudge Report.

anywhere. They have great commentary and cover so many different types of news and entertainment that it is easy to stay well-informed AND get other information.

Nobody forces you to view the Snookie stories or the sports stuff or the medical info.
