VIDEO: DC, SAN FRANCISCO PEACE MARCHES LEAD ALL LOCAL TV NEWSCASTS IN BAY AREA
including Saturday night's news on KGO, KNTV, and KPIX with live coverage. Possibly a turning point in media coverage, and certainly quite a remarkable change from the total blackout of events like these only a few months ago!

See for yourself:

Time=7:28; MP4 download available for Video iPod

For some unknown technical reason, YouTube couldn't accept this clip, and that's why it's a Google Video instead that couldn't be posted in DU's Video Forum.

Although edited out of this clip, it was also interesting that all stations followed these reports with the story of a troop deployment ceremony in Dublin, CA. The NBC affiliate (KNTV) also showed footage of a Navy aircraft carrier leaving San Diego for the middle east, and lots of crying family members. Some stations then followed these reports with the story of a soldier from Hayward who lost his life in Iraq on Thursday. All in all, a tremendous amount of TV coverage triggered by the protests in D.C. and San Francisco.

2. Thanks TM
Quite a learning experience getting clips up on Google Video for the first time. Glad you thought it was worth the time and effort.

5. Thanks Expat; wanted you & family to see what took place back home
while you were in D.C. Things really gained some traction here, both on the streets as well as in the newsrooms. I can't remember a single occasion when peace protests were the lead story on all local channels here in the last 3 decades.

Your post with photos was great. Thanks for making the trip--in spite of all you've been though the last few days--and for sharing your experiences with us!

6. It was replenishing and that surprised me.
Leftists to the left of me, leftists to the right of me.

The whole time, though, I was wondering how we were doing at home. :)
