When Republicans require Loyalty Oaths, do they actually believe Republicans
take Oaths seriously? Republicans entire mode of operation is to LIE and then LIE some more. Oaths are meaningless to them yet they require their members to sign "Loyalty Oaths" before they can be considered Republican. I guess they go by the adage of "Honor among thieves", but it makes me laugh out loud.

1. It Makes Them Look "Strong"
It also covers up ignorance with talking points. GOOPers like simple answers to all problems. There's not a single problem that can't be solved by "cutting taxes" or "less government"...yet they have no clue what that really means. Or when those cut taxes and less government mean cutbacks in services, then they blame government as being "the problem". It's a neat little circle jerk that the powers in the GOOP use to keep their horde in line...and then abuse. While they campaign on "less government", the moment they get their grubbies on the treaury, they spend like drunken sailors on "government" creating bigger problems.

Their "oaths" and purity tests are nothing more than a cover for their underlying "philosphy"...kleptocracy. It's enriching themselves and pissing on their own in the process...then crying that the problem was rushpublicans aren't "conservative" enough. Thus after they've trashed things, leaving the mess for Democrats to clean up, they then come up with a new laundry list of "principals" (new talking points) to propogate and distort and make Democrats look weak.

2. Good Point! This is probably the thing that makes them soooooo hypocritical, when you can't
even count on people whom you claim to be so absolutely close to, you might just have a tendency to double-cross them.

Seriously, I think the basic problem is in their Absolutist Authoritarian mindsets; they think their own perceptions and understandings are The Absolute All Powerful TRUTH, a.k.a. God, and when you and God are equals, you get all of his power and authority, ergo YOU are the one who gets to identify any/all exceptions (as in **American Exceptionalism**) to any/all rules and natural law.

3. Newsflash: Republicans get their polices enacted
AND they do so whether or not they are popular or effective.

Hence- they get the last laugh even from their minority perch on the fringe.

Hard to accept the reality of the situation- isn' it?

You pretend to laugh while they're still punking you.

4. They certainly don't honor their marriage vows.
Nor American or international law, nor the UN charter, nor treaties we have signed....

6. Not long ago I saw the results of a study on "chastity oaths".
It basically showed that girls who took so called "chastity oaths" were as likely or more likely to get pregnant out of marriage than those who hadn't taken such oaths. It reminded me of the chastity sash from Orwell's 1984. Part of the analysis speculated that the "chastity oath" girls may not have had more sex but were just less likely to seek information on birth control methods, or the actual methods for that matter.

Republicans can swear to anything they like. They'll do whatever is works politically, including breaking any and all oaths. Funny how so many of them are on 3rd and 4th marriages.
