2. Hi, rocky. I can't say. It might be. It might not be. All I really know is
that it's Friday and I'm lunging for the CDs and may take in a film.

When the present landscape turns sour the ancients speak to us in the most alluring of voices.

I say we hang in there and drink cold beer and hot coffee and listen to good music.

It's not a bad plan.

:hi:

in the current wrestling match to have any strength left for our ears.

Though, and speaking of the ancients, as R.M. Rilke said, we/they wait in silence to hear . . .

A tree ascended there,
Oh pure transcendence, Oh Orpheus sings,
Oh tall tree in the ear and all things hushed.
And yet, even in that silence, a new Beginning,
Beckoning change appeared.

Creatures of stillness crowded from the bright unbound forest,
out of their lairs and nests,
But it was not from dullness,
not from fear,
That they were so quiet in themselves,
But from simply listening.

Bellow, roar, shriek were small inside their hearts.
And where there had been but a makeshift hut to receive the Music,
A shelter nailed up out of our darkest longings,
With an entry-way that shuddered in the Wind,

You built a temple deep inside their hearing.

5. Hey patrice. That is lovely, lovely stuff. That durn Rilke shor could
talk smooth.

And this cynical romantic would traverse the Gedrosian to bring water to Alexander's soldiers.

It's a tangled mess out the window of current events, I'll readily concede.

But we have lovely things in the attic.

Thank you for that shot of lovely language this morning.

8. You are Welcome. And thank you for calling it forth, yet again . . . and again.
Also, thank you for that reference to the Gedrosian and Alexander's soldiers. I look forward to looking that one up when I rest this evening.
