Paterson will not run .

Gov. David Paterson will not seek reelection; but will not resign

BY Kenneth Lovett
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Friday, February 26th 2010, 9:42 AM
Embattled Gov. Paterson has pulled the plug on his bid to seek reelection, a source close to the governor said Friday.

Paterson will announce the decision later Friday.

Paterson has been under fire for having contacted a woman who accused one of his top aides of domestic violence.

The source said the governor has agreed not to seek election, but he will not resign - opting to serve out the remainder of his term.

The decision clears the way for Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is the favorite of many Democrats, to seek the nomination unimpeded.

1. I hope Tom Suozzi runs
And with Jay Jacobs as the chairman, it might be possible. I still think Suozzi would be a great governor and better than Cuomo.

3. K&R #4. Will SNL dare do their PATERSON standing nose-length away while his security dude
assaults a woman, chases her. As they did with P. bumping into the cameras, this would entail his bumping into the assault and not knowing anything about it.

4. I supported Paterson throughout because of his unwavering support for ...
marriage equality, but this recent incident in which he called a victim of domestic violence allegedly committed by his close aide was beyond the pale. I'm sorry, Governor, in my mind this one act disqualifies you from seeking office.
