What On Earth Is Mike Allen Talking About?
This morning on Morning Schmo (yes, yes, I know) he was decrying the fact that Blanche Lincoln was getting a primary challenger from the left. He went on to say she was and had been for the HRC bill. What planet is he living on? I always thought he was a fool and wondered how he kept his job but this takes the cake. And hooray that progressive groups are helping her challenger.

4. Here's one:
What's the square root of negative 2?

Answer? probably something as irrational as Politico's coverage of DC.

3. I always thought he was a dim bulb; he proves it daily. He's also
invested in Dems losing, so maybe he's running scared. And we already know the truth doesn't matter to him.

6. DKos Has Been Pushing For A Challenger
Allen is a GOOP talking point tool. He's the ultimate stenographer...just repeating what Rove or Cheney tells him. He's a major reason Politico has such poor credibiility outside the betlway but has become the arbeiter of "conventional wisdom" within.

The thing about being a "pundit" is you never have to be right and rarely are ever called on when your "reporting" is false.

7. Recommended.
I've mentioned before that I thought there was some value to be found in Taylor Branch's newest book, "The Clinton Tapes." Your OP reminded me of an interesting section in that book, where President Clinton told the author about ex-President Bush explaining to him why the republican elders were afraid of the new breed of zoomby activists creating stress within the republican party.

The Democratic Party is beginning to experience a similar dynamic. The progressive left and liberal democrats are no longer willing to support the country club democrats in DC. More, rather than simply withdrawing support -- financial contributions, volunteer hours, and votes -- they are going to invest those efforts in primary challenges.

The inhabitants of the grass roots realize that they have been had. Their good will is being exploited. And they are mad as hell, and unwilling to take it anymore.

8. As Usual, You're Right On The Money
“The race is likely to become a proxy battle for the larger debate within the Democratic Party between progressives who believe sticking to core values is the best way to win office and the self-styled pragmatists who argue that they must adopt more conservative positions when running in traditionally more conservative states.”
