Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) just took to the chamber floor asking for unanimous consent to pass a temporary extension of unemployment insurance, COBRA benefits and a handful of additional funding provisions that expired yesterday.

You already know the outcome.

Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) continued his one-man blockade of the legislation, insisting that Democratic leaders come up with the $10 billion the proposal is estimated to cost.

“The debt that we have arrived at,” Bunning said, “it’s unsustainable.”

It marks the eleventh time since in less than a week that Bunning has blocked the bill.

Take the $10 billion from his state in the form of any government stimulus or any other money his state gets from the government! See what the moron says then!

4. Not only that, but he promised, "I'll be here" to object to any other unanimous-consent

request for an immediate Senate vote on the House-passed 30-day unemployment benefit extension.

Why don't the Democrats just keep this session going, in shifts, 24 hours a day until Bunning falls asleep, or has to go potty?

Democrats already felt bad enough at the time for having made Bunning miss the basketball game he wanted to watch. How mean can you get? Bunning is old, so Democrats should have just let him mail in his obstruction so that he wouldn't miss his naptime.

He implied that the Dems won't use it. What is it?
