President Obama is coming to Savannah, GA tomorrow.

I'm disappointed he isn't doing a town hall style meeting where a lot of people could listen to him and a few could ask questions.

New details on Obama's trip to Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - In just five days, the President of the United States will be making a visit to Savannah.

Details of his stop to the Hostess City have been kept under wraps, but Friday, the White House released new information about Obama's visit. Obama will be arriving in Savannah on March 2 as part of his White House to Main Street tour.

The White House says the President will be touring Savannah Technical College before talking about the job market and the economy.The President will then tour other parts of Savannah, including local businesses as well as speaking with business owners, students and residents. Because of limited space, only invited guests will be allowed to hear Obama speak at Savannah Technical College.

There's always at least one in a crowd. Hopefully it was a misguided adoring fan who wasn't dangerous.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - President Barack Obama has arrived in Savannah for a day-long visit to the Hostess City.

The President landed shortly before noon Tuesday at Hunter Army Airfield. Waiting for him on the tarmac was Savannah mayor Otis Johnson, Georgia governor Sonny Perdue and others.

Obama will be making his way to Savannah Tech to talk with a group of invited guests about a new energy efficient rebate program.

Next, he'll be touring some local businesses. We have team coverage of this event and we'll have more information as it becomes available.

Mostly talked about jobs and the importance of green technologies (like the ones taught at Sav tech).

Mayeb. I thought it was going to Paula Deens. But locals are now saying Mrs Wilkes Boarding house which has much more authentic southern homestyle cooking.

SAVANNAH, Ga.—President Barack Obama surprised diners at Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room, 107 W. Jones St., in the heart of Savannah’s picturesque historic district.

Passersby were stopped along the brick sidewalk at each corner while the president entered. About 50 people packed the dining room, and all stood as Obama shook hands in the low-ceilinged room.

Ed and Carol Enciso of Chicago got to shake hands withthe president and she got a photo.She got a picture of Obama. “This is the most exciting thing!“ She said. Obama sat with six guests and Savannah Mayor Otis Johnsona, who sat to his left.

Fried chicken was piled on a plate in front of them, and as Obama chatted with a man from Charlotte, N.C., he spooned baked beans and ambrosia on his plate.

To the press, he said “I don’t want any lectures about my cholesterol. Don’t tell Michelle.“

He's still got an hour to go in Savannah. Where to next? I'd love to see him with a to-go cup on River Street.

Mrs. Wilkes restaurant is a venerable eatery that serves authentic home style southern food for lunch only. It was once a boarding house, but now is only a lunch restaurant. It serves food family style. You wait on a short line and get seated with whomever is next in line at a 8 - 10 seat table. When Mrs. Wilkes was alive she would come out and say grace.

It's a favorite among locals and visitors.
