Bush's aunt thinks people who possess child-porn are "wonderful"
Ex-Church Official Jailed For Child Porn

AP) The former music director of a church where former President Bush once worshipped pleaded guilty on Monday to possessing child pornography.

Robert F. Tate, 64, of Greenwich, admitted possessing between 150-300 pornographic images of children, some engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Prosecutors said some children in the images were younger than 12 years old.

<snip>

At Tate's last hearing in December, President Bush's aunt and other members of the church attended to support Tate.

"I think he's wonderful," Elizabeth Bush, whose husband, Prescott, is President Bush's uncle and former President Bush's brother, said after that hearing. "He's certainly been a wonderful, wonderful choir director for 36 years. He's just the most extraordinarily talented and spiritual person."

1. Does anything the "family values" crowd says these days surprise anyone anymore?
They are all complete hypocrites, the leaders and followers alike.

8. I didn't say they were comparable, I merely pointed out that people who "sin"

from a Christan perspective are all the same "sinners" as are we all.

Perhaps that's what Jesus had in mine when he taught, "Judge not, that ye be not judged."

11. Maybe that's why I don't toss around words like "sin".
I'm not prepared to say that the concentration camp guards who killed my Jewish relatives in WWII are the same kind of "sinners" (because, you know, we all are!) as someone who masturbates, uses birth control, or eats meat on Friday. I don't buy into that nonsense. I guess I'm not a very good "Christian".

12. "Judge not, that ye be not judged" if that is their perspective, why was Saddam executed?
Why is Bush then pro death penalty?

I really don't get that. It seems that most fundies use and twist religion to excuse their own immoral and corrupt behavior. As in "I can do whatever I want to because Jesus will forgive me in the end." If we would live all by that motto the world would be a dark place.

In my opinion there is a clear distinction between an affair of consenting adults and men/women raping children or people who posses pictures of that rape.

9. I didn't know that ! Still, one can believe that a person is "wonderful" in one aspect of
her/his life and ignore or be ignorant of more sinful things she/he has done.

See the similarity?

10. No, because I think there's a HUGE difference between adutery between adults
and sexually abusing or exploiting kids.

They're both "sinful"-- like Jaywalking and serial killing are both "crimes".

13. The OP placed the incident in the context of the Christ Church in Greenwich. That allows me
to point out the Christian principle that all sins are the same.

If you and I disagree re Christian doctrine,

Adultery and child molestation are the same sin, in Christian principle?

18. I'm not a scholar on Christian doctrine but I have attended services in some churches where
that specific point was made.

I stand by that special case as an instance of all sins are the same in the eyes of God.

Thanks for making me laugh.

That anyone would argue that an affair between adults is the same sin as the rape of children is beyond believe. I guess I haven't been a "good Christian" either.

25. More republicon sex deviants. They are everywhere
The whole flipping republicon "elite" (in their own minds) establishment has a corrputed moral compass, and a THING about sexual deviancy.

Why are republicons so deceptive and deviant?
