GM recalling 1.3 million Chevrolet Cobalts, Pontiac G5s
Even as Toyota faces a Senate grilling today over its recalls, General Motors just announced it will recall 1.3 million cars in North America to replace a power steering motor that could fail.

GM said the recall would cover 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalts, 2007-10 Pontiac G5s and similar models sold in Canada and Mexico.

<snip>

Hyde reporters that GM recalled 2.2 million vehicles in 2009.

1. Find a parking lot with a nice slope to it
Get the car up to about 20 mph, and turn off the engine.

Practice driving the car in a series of turns down the slope without power steering or brakes.

Someday, your power steering and/or brakes are very likely to not work, so be prepared.
