I bet if the likes of Joe Wilson and John McCain were around when Harry Truman
worked to racially integrate the United States Armed Forces, they would have used the same arguments, "maintain unit cohesion" and the such in order to support a continuation of racial segregation.

Way to go boys.

It's pretty much the same ludicrous argument the likes of these fellas always fall back on when backed into a corner...

1. those arguments were, indeed, used
You can't ask white boys to serve with black boys, that was another one. Truman told them STFU and get it done.

3. Especially Joe Wilson
Harry might just've gone to Joe's house and socked him one -- it wouldn't have been totally out of character, given what a gigantic asshole the honorablr representative is.

"Letters to Bess" was, by the way, probably the first grown-up nonfiction book I ever read.
