These are the hard core predators who are very dangerous, and they haven't found a way to "cure" them of their predilections. John Walsh said that there are 100,000 level 3 offenders who have jumped the system and can no longer be monitored in any fashion.
There need to be much longer sentences for this level of offender. There also needs to be a much better system to account for them if they are out.
In addition, the section set up to try to catch internet offenders and people who are connected to child porn needs to be greatly expanded. Child trafficking also needs more people working to stop it.
The war on drugs is wasted money. While the government spends its resources on that battle, a much more critical area is underfunded and basically ignored. If there is one area that needs to be a priority, it is the protection of kids.
I am also not talking about just 'stranger danger.' That gets the attention, but people closer to home are more likely to be the offenders. All of them should be treated more seriously.
