Mike Oren, who celebrates his 56th birthday today, hopes to see world peace in his lifetime.
Oren is walking across the country to call attention to his dream and this week he's in Montgomery.
The son of two Marines, Oren began his walk in California in September 2004 and has walked more than 5,000 miles since starting his journey.
Oren often sits in public places and holds his hand in the peace sign as a demonstration for peace. He's demonstrated at many state capitols as well as the White House in 2006, he said. He's also considered a presidential run to have his chance at achieving world peace and ending what he believes are unnecessary wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
He said if he could have a conversation with President Barack Obama, then he wouldn't have to run for president. As of yet, he hasn't been granted an audience in the West Wing.
