I have a friend who just came back from CA where she was visiting some friends. On her way back she had to change planes in NY and had quite a wait. She was sitting and doing a cross word puzzle when she noticed this woman kept looking at her. Eventually the woman came up to her and asked if she could look at her handbag. My friend let her look at it and the woman burst out laughing. She said to Abby; "that's my bag"- which took Abby a bit aback. She told the woman that she bought it at a yard sale in her small northern vermont town last summer. The woman showed Abby a mark on the bottom of the bag and explained that that's how she was sure it had been her handbag; then she explained that her daughter lived in Hardwick and she'd given the handbag to her a few years ago.
(It's a beautiful large old Etienne Aigner saddle bag type thing)

I wish it were possible to track all the unknown connections... it'd be fascinating. I'm from CT, and I met some people at the train station in Prague (in the Czech Republic) who knew my ex-boyfriend. It's a little, tiny world.
