How you going to get 51 votes for healthcare fixes when you can't even get 50 votes to help seniors?

The Senate voted down a one-time $250 social security check for seniors yesterday.

The vote was 50 against and only 47 for the measure.

We had a bi-partisan vote against this small measure to help seniors. 12 Democratic Senators voted along with Republicans to stab seniors in the back.

Do some here actually believe the Senate will vote for reconcilation healthcare "fixes" such as a strong public option or no taxation of health insurance benefits?

Sure they will .... NOT!

Here's how the Senator voted on the social security assistance yesterday.

2. Something odd about the nea's... look at the D's... Feingold, Udall, Feinstein, Shaheen
What was also in this bill? It seems odd that they would vote against seniors.

9. "What was also in this bill?" Nothing. This amendment was submitted by Senator Sanders.

We just can't afford these costly entitlements. If we spend billions on entitlements where will the money for war and Wall Street come from?

We have to start cutting back on Medicare and Social Security soon and adding to entitlements will make that more difficult.

I'm sure that's the argument being put forward.

3. They aren't
They are going to lie to the House and the President is going to sign the bill after the vote fails, if the House is really that fucking stupid.

6. These "Senators" hate the American people
Especially the old and the disabled ones.

If you think for one second they'll vote for the health care for Americans that don't have any, well think again.

They are a class of their own, fully insured already mind you.

They have no compassion nor do they care about anything except continuous funding of the wars without end!

They should be disgusted with themselves! Why can't Pres. Obama do something about this atrocity?

 :argh: :grr: :grr: :grr:

:kick: & recommend.

7. We need someone progressive to run against Warner in his next primary.
He is a repuke in everything but name and never met a corporation he didn't want to help. Screw the workers - that's fine, but be sure to take very good care of the corporations.

11. Senate can't be trusted to pass healthcare reconciliation fixes. Here's what the House needs to do

Before the House votes for the Senate bill they should insist that the Senate:

1. Prepare and release the exact legislative language of all the "fixes" that will be proposed in a Senate reconciliation bill.

2. Ask for a ruling from the Senate parliamentarian of what, if any, "fixes" of a proposed Senate reconciliation bill would not be in compliance with Senate budget reconciliation rules.

3. Have at least 51 Senators publicly sign a pledge to vote in favor of the complete reconciliation package.

I would think those should be the minimum requirements of the House leadership.

Will the House make those and perhaps other demands on the Senate before they bring the Senate bill before the House for a vote or will they just "trust" the Senate to possibly pass unspecified House proposals via reconciliation at some time in the future?

13. At this point I don't think the senate can be trusted to do anything
good for the American People. Except for a few they screw everything up and give in to the republicans and corporations.
