Four things drove me to this topic: We recently observed the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, teen birth statistics for Kern County just came out, a couple people I know are anti-abortion activists and I have four daughters.

The progressive notion of women's rights serves to affirm that women do have a place in our society as sexual objects and then proposes to mitigate the impacts by providing contraception and abortion. Instead of training young girls to perpetuate that reckless idea, we need to abandon the paradigm as uninspired and contemptible.
How do we help our girls? Stop validating demeaning sexual roles for women among our youth. Stop making women comfortable with the social consequences of those roles by offering them relief that does not address the elemental assault on their value as people. And teach the boys to man up and respect our daughters.
Our failures and the carnage that has resulted from Roe v. Wade have also yielded an active anti-abortion movement. We have the opportunity to help and encourage pro-life advocacy and to take a different approach to women's rights for the next generation.
