Democrats abadoned economic populism, gaining corporate money but losing the working class

Left-wing economic policies are popular in many parts of the U.S., from the inner cities to the Rust Belt to the rural Plains states. And a majority support most left-wing economic policies.

Yet because neither party is populist economically, preferring instead to be economically elitist, voters are left to vote on foreign policy issues and cultural issues.

It's on economic issues, not other issues, where the Democratic Party traditionally did best and managed to unite its Big Tent. "It's the economy, stupid!"

Yet now the national Democrats are just as supportive of busting unions, bailing out banks, and mandating insurance as the Republicans.

Democrats may have gained a shitload of campaign donations from wealthy people, but they have lost the working class...and for good reason.

even the CBO admits it was, and is now fighting for jobs stimulation and has been fighting to keep homeowners from being foreclosed upon since Obama took office?

Which party is fighting for regulatory reform that includes oversight of derivatives and CDS and Resolution Authority?

Which party opposes all of the above?

Who has opposed all of these legislative measures?

Do you really, truly believe that the democratic party is "fighting to keep homeowners from being foreclosed?" Almost everyone else saw a token effort with a miniscule amount of money keeping very few people from losing their homes.

That stimulus "Success" is defined mostly as restoring corporate profits and preventing businesses from going out of business, so it is very corporate-oriented. It is spectacularly not people-oriented. It isn't helping people start businesses to create jobs. It isn't creating jobs programs. It isn't expanding the eligibility standards for assistance in places where more people need it most, for longer.

A lot of us have been seeing our part as remarkably spineless compared to what the Democratic party has done in response to recessions and depressions in the past.

I guess that old trope is true, "If you can control what questions people ask, it doesn't matter what the answers are."
