Airline pilot used fake license for 13 years

Dutch officials have arrested a Swedish pilot who flew for commercial airlines for 13 years using a fake license. The 41-year-old pilot, who lives in Milan, clocked up at least 10,000 hours flying for airlines based in Britain, Italy and Belgium.

Officials detained him at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport as he was preparing to take off for Ankara in a Boeing 737 with 101 passengers on board. He had previously held a license to fly small planes.

Sounds like he has more experience than a lot of pilots out there... :)

7. If he did it well enough not to be noticed for 10,000 flying hours,

why didn't he just get the license? I wonder if he was otherwise disqualified, but if no one noticed, obviously HR wasn't doing their jobs!
