In North Carolina, when you sign up for unemployment coverage they give you a form. You have to physically go to two businesses and apply for work every week, or they cut off your benefits. Applying online does not count, even though some employers won't accept applications any other way.

you must put your resume on line at their job site in order to receive benefits.And its only up to sixty five percent of your weekly income and of course you only get a check bi-weekly.

They don't make you physically go in Ohio; you can apply online. But they expect you to keep a record of your contacts.

But applying online for jobs is not always easy or fun either. I cannot tell you how many times I got a form kicked back to me because the information was entered "incorrectly" for the format of that particular form. Or it got kicked back simply because there were parts I didn't want to fill out, and it demanded that I either fill them out or else. (Such as when they require you to list a "salary desired"; I regard listing a desired salary as a losing game, because it's only used by the employer to screen you out--to pitch your application either if you look too expensive OR if you look too cheap ("hm, must not value herself very much").
