So I merely asked the detractors to name a couple of congresspeople who had substantive results. Of course, voting to extend the Patriot Act isn't what I had in mind. (This is not directed at your examples. I would suspect that Franken, at least, would be opposed to that extension.)

But I'll answer your question as a hypothetical. I wouldn't support an invasion of Iraq. Despite the fact that Iran is run by an anti-semitic, Islamofascist nutcase, I've seen no concrete evidence to suggest that he would ever attack Israel. The self-hating Jewish Ahmedinejad knows that if he attacked his brothers in Israel without provocation, that Israel could wipe him off the map with their nukes. Thus, I don't see Iran attacking Israel in our lifetime.

As to Iran, I do not know if we will be invading them but there has been a little more saber rattling than I'm comfortable with. I hope we don't. And I hope if we do, there will not be widespread Democratic support for it.

My Congresspeson is a first term Democrat (Gerry Connolly) elected to represent a district that, accounting for re-districting, has been represented by repubs for most of the past 50 plus years. Despite that fact, in his first year in office, Connolly has voted with the Democratic party position on bills and amendments more frequently than Kucinich (97 percent to 91 percent), introduced more bills than Kucinich (19 v.11) and introduced more amendments to bills than Kucinich (3 v. 0).

No Gerry doesn't run around labelling himself "America's Most Courageous Congressman" like that modest Mr. Kucinich, but in the long run, I'll take a Congressperson that represents his/her district faithfully and tries to get things done over one that grandstands so they can pat themselves on the back for their "courage".
