(Newser) – Nate Silver notes that the folks at InTrade now say the smart money is on President Obama getting his health care bill through Congress. They put the chances at 52%, a significant jump in just the last few days. Silver agrees the odds have improved from a "post- Masspocalypse" low of 25% to 30%, but after running through all the pros (Obama's "all-in") and cons (Bart Stupak isn't budging on abortion), he's keeping his seat squarely on the fence.

"My head says yes—Pelosi will squeak this through—while my gut frankly says no. Either way, I'm not sure there's a lot of arbitrage against that 52% number at Intrade, but I'd hesitate to call the bill a favorite to pass," he writes at FiveThirtyEight.com.

I think that if Dems pass nothing at all you can stick a fork in them this fall because they will be done. The Republican crowing about how they stopped this terrible, terrible bill will be heard round the world.

6. You could at least mention Dr. Marcia Angell

was on the same show and made the argument against the bill. I agree with her and disagree with Wendell Potter. There are some good things in the bill, like Medicaid Expansion and supposedly ending rescission, but you can do those things without giving health insurance companies $100B a year.

While I appreciate Wendell Potter speaking out in the last year, for years he worked in an industry that killed and bankrupted people by denying claims.

I would rather back Dr. Angell who recognized and spoke out to change the problem years ago vs. someone who was wrong for years, not saying he does not deserve credit now.

That's the context. He doesn't like this bill because there is no public option.

BILL MOYERS: So Wendell, you reluctantly are going to support this bill?

WENDELL POTTER: I would.

BILL MOYERS: What don't you like about it?

WENDELL POTTER: I don't like the fact that it doesn't include the public option. That was so much a part of the House bill, even though it was watered down. It was a good thing to have included, and I regret that. And I hope that maybe in future years, Congress can revisit that. And I think they will, if they're seeing that the reform doesn't work as envisioned.

BILL MOYERS: So you would say yes, and then fight again for another day to make it better.

WENDELL POTTER: I would vote for it. Is it the be all and end all? No, it's not. There are other things that I think will have to come back in years to come. But wouldn't you rather, and I think wouldn't most Americans rather that we have something to start from rather than starting from scratch the next time? It's very hard to build up to doing this in the first place. And keep in mind that the special interests have almost an unlimited amount of money to spend to influence the results. I'm frankly pretty amazed that we're getting this close to passing something.
