Census question

I'm wanting to know from any census workers the following:

I have no problem with the census, but I am not going to answer question #4, which asks for your phone number. Besides the obvious that many people do not have a phone, as long as all the other questions are answered, will this trigger them sending someone to my house to ask for a phone number (which I still will not give out)?

1. No, it is just to reach you if they have questions about your form

It won't be tied to your name beyond that, it won't be shared.

In fact, the point of asking for it is to minimize having to send people to homes. If they can't read an answer or whatever, they can call you for clarification instead of sending a worker out (saves them money)

Read it on the census.gov FAQ just yesterday.
