Matthews Drools Over Libby Trial

"Truth is stranger than fiction" is a phrase you often hear tossed around. I'd add a corollary to it: truth can be funnier than fiction, too.

Such was the case on tonight's "Hardball" where host Chris Matthews got so excited with his quest to blame the Bush admin for the Valerie Plame kerfuffle, he actually started drooling about it on the air, going past anything that "Saturday Night Live" actor Darrell Hammond has ever done in parody.

I saw that live yesterday and laughed my living ass off. It was not just a dribble, THE MAN WAS RABID lol. I have never seen anyone drool that much and believe me my friends are drunkards.

4. LOL! A great big old line of spittle rolled down his lip...
I thought, I knew one day that was gonna happen. Usually the spit just flies. But this time it just rolled down his lip.

5. He looked sick on last night's show.
Not just the drool, but he was sweating and looked pale. Betting that there will be a guest host in the not too distant future.

6. You can't blame the guy. He was mixed up in it from the very beginning.
It was reports on his show that sent Cheney off the deep end. Imagine being a TV talking head who so enraged the Vice President that he had his staff transcribe the show. This is Tweety's chance to be a hero. No wonder he's excited.

7. No need to transcribe Fox News, they're already part of the propaganda...
No need to transcribe Keith Olbermann, he's always been about telling the truth...

Chris Matthews? Well there is a schmuck who can be "persuaded" to tell lies one minute and tell half truths the next and act surprised when the full truth comes out...

11. My take on Matthews is that he desperately wants to be with the cool kids
He swings back and forth because he knows he'll lose his access and if he can't get the big guests--there goes his show.

He did get it right on Plame.

9. How The Tweety Has Turned...
I think the big thing was Tweety finding out last week how Crashcart was getting written transcripts of his show. This had to send the Tweety ego into hyper salivation. We're just seeing the overflow.

Shuster's done a great job on this story from the outset. While danced a fine line of reporting it straight without putting too much personal opinion into it. Tweety on the other hand was dismissive of the whole scandal at the start. Many will remember how he brought on regime mouthpieces who trashed Joe Wilson and tried to downplay this scandal...and how they went on uncontested...all so that Tweety could stay on the "good side" and get the big guests and scoops. Tweety looks so clueless about how bad he's been used...but still doesn't get it.
