It may not be gaining a large market share compared to other automakers. And it might not be evident on its current bottom line.

But Chrysler Group LLC appears to be positioning itself for a successful, year-end 2010.

And that success is trickling down to Kokomo.

3. Chrysler has and will again build some of the greatest vehicles

They have 4 Mercedes based RWD vehicles coming out toward the end of the year with the choice of Mercedes designed state of the art V6's or HEMI's that switch into 4 cylinders when at cruising speed. They have new 6 speed dual clutch manual transmissions that drive like automatics coming along with new super efficient engine technology. For Christmas, the USA gets the hottest car in Europe, the FIAT 500.

4. So how many rebranded Chrysler cars do Mercedes and Fiat sell under their name?

That transmission SOUNDS an awful lot like the paddly-thing-shifter that Nissan uses on its high end sports cars.

Anyway, I'm just ribbing Chrysler. 300 isn't very many, but at least it's better than laying more off. Anyway, at least they're not circling the drain like GM.

6. The new top of the line Alfa sedan will be built off the Dodge Challenger platform

The new Chrysler 300 will be sold in Italy as a Lancia but everywhere else as a Chrysler. Both these cars will be built in Brampton, ON with Michigan made "pentastar" motors.

Fiat preparing Dual Dry Clutch transmission

Dual-clutch transmissions are emerging as the latest trend in automotive gearboxes, and the Italians aren't about to miss out on the newest fashion. Fiat announced earlier today a new family of six-speed transmissions, called C635, that will premiere as a manual in June 2009, followed by a dual-clutch version in September 2009 before the automated manual comes out in 2010.

7. Chrysler is poised for huge comeback, economy willing

One has to go back decades to find as exciting American cars as Chrysler has coming out. The new 300 and Charger will make people want to cheer and will be the greatest American/Canadian big cars ever built by almost any standard. The new Grand Cherokee will be the most capable Grand Cherokee ever. The new Dodge 7 passenger SUV will harness the HEMI for family use and will quickly become a suburban favorite from coast to coast. All these car were developed under rogue Mercedes product guru Wolfgang Bernhard.

Then there is arrival of the FIAT 500, a mini car that will go toe to toe with the best the Germans and Asians have.
