7. I'll be voting anti-Incumbent in the primaries

Whoever runs against my repug congress-critter will get my vote in the general. I have no major reasons that I can think of not to vote for Boxer in general. I hope in 2012 that Obama draws a primary challenger from the right.

btw there is no "the Dems" on any ballot, all politics are local

Merely casting a ballot isn't enough. Encouraging our neighbors to get out and vote is infinitely more important, same as donating early and often has a greater impact than the single vote we'll each cast on election day.

So it isn't so much, will you vote, as it is, will you actively support?

I would agree that actively supporting your candidate/party is definitely important, but this poll was created to gauge DUer interest in voting this november and beyond.

I am tired of having to defend my progressive stands when being challenged on the DLC's record. Explaining that the Repubs of 60s and 70s have taken over the Democratic party gets very tiring.

Yes the DLCers are better than Bush but that is like saying it is better to be put to death by neglect rather than torture.

That will probably be democrats, because Republicans will never support the things that I think need support.

But if a member of the Green party or a independent progressive runs, and looks like he can pull a plurality of the vote, I'm there.

23. The qualifying limiter on my statement was "if." It is a wonderful word with a real meaning.

But I won't say I'm voting for the Dem. In my city, the council and the mayor are non-partisan. We all know who the Democrats, Republicans, and Independents are. But they don't run that way. At times, I have seen a dozen names on the ballot for a minor office and find that I have no opinion. In that case, I choose a woman and reject anyone who claims being a businessman. I think we men have had enough chances screwing everything up and businessmen are the worst possible choice. Also, parties change.

Up until 1948, Democrats did not let black people in the party. Strom Thurmond left when they voted to let them in, and Strom ran on a segregation ticket. Next week, next month, or next year I may be faced with the fact that the Democrats have altered their philosophy to the point where I can not support them.

Finally, Democrat is a factor in my choice, as is the candidates stance on education, a woman's right to choose (there are right to life Democrats I will not vote for), gay marriage rights (there are Democrats that supported pop 8 in California and I won't support them), health care (I will not support a Democrat that votes against the current health care bill), and many other issues. Being a member of the NRA is a mark against any candidate. In almost every case, a Democrat will win. But almost isn't every. Almost is also a great qualifying limiter with a real meaning.

22. There was a primary system setup for a reason...

Once the primaries are done there is absolufuckinglutely no way I will do anything whatsoever that will enable Republicans to win. And by Republicans I mean those with the "R" slapped next to their names.

There is only one democrat in this whole wide world that has the same ideological beliefs that I have and well, that person is me. So unless I'm running for office (highly doubtful) then every other democrat out there is a compromise.

Even the Ben Nelsons, Blanche Lincoln, etc etc will get some of the votes right from time to time. Republicans will get NONE of the votes right at anytime at all. If the primaries are finished and that's the candidate, I would rather have a 70% democrat over a 100% republican any day of the week.

Folks we have to start working these primaries
