Social Security Works!

Since President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act at approximately 3:30pm on August 14, 1935, it has provided economic security for millions of Americans.

Currently, the Social Security Administration provides benefits to more than 52.5 million total beneficiaries including:

•9.7 million disabled persons under age 65 and dependent family members
•6.4 million survivors of deceased workers
•36.4 million retired workers and their families

By 2023, the surplus is estimated to grow to $4.3 trillion.

There is no Social Security crisis; Social Security works for America.

the basic contribution from it's current 6.2% each for employee and employer.

Higher contributions are not feasible with flat wages.

5. Many agree society has a moral responsible to help the destitute but I'm not sure most agree that

society should provide a retirement income for those who have not provided for themselves.

Allowances program funds health care even though a person may not have paid a cent?

The "Social Security crisis" is another propaganda campaign to start pushing for privatization again. Anyone who thinks that's a good idea after what we saw in 2008 has got to be nuts or they stand to profit off the scheme.

Before Social Security the #1 cause of death among the elderly was starvation.
