Obama camp honours Olympic hockey bet
Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 09:42 PM by Oregone

U.S. press secretary Robert Gibbs wore Team Canada’s colours to kick off Friday’s daily briefing after losing a double-or-nothing Olympic bet to Canadian counterpart Dimitri Soudas, spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

“This is not my usual attire,” Gibbs quipped as he emerged to take the podium, resplendent in the familiar red-and-white hockey jersey that became such a staple for Canadian fans during the Winter Games.

“It’s casual Friday.”

Gibbs first lost to Soudas when Canada defeated the U.S. in last month’s Olympic women’s hockey final; he had to wear the jersey during an off-camera meeting with reporters.

I would think that's a little strong considering that Canada barely pulled the win out in overtime.

Canada barely even made it to the Gold medal round actually, and were very lucky to do so.

Oh, and I have dual citizenship so I can criticize. lol

2. They set a Winter Olympic gold medal record with 14
Its not a little strong. No one has surpassed that and they were well ahead of anyone else this year.

As far as hockey, yeah, they started off slow. Its tough to form a cohesive team outta the blue, when those guys are coming from all over, showing up last minute. They peaked against Russia undoubtedly.

3. I agree, Canada was awesome in the Gold medal category... And I am very proud of them
considering that minor sport is certainly not over funded in Canada anymore than any other country.
