The "HUM-Cam" is back up.
Edited on Tue Mar-16-10 09:29 AM by Catshrink
This is an awesome webcam stream aimed at nesting hummingbird. The nest is in a rosebush in a California resident's yard. It is the size of a golf ball and the two eggs are the size of peas. One of the eggs has two cracks in it - or did yesterday. Momma bird is on the nest now so I can't see if more have developed.

Here is the link:

Here is an alternate link (the other one was hacked by a porn site yesterday but that seems to have been fixed):

3. The chickies are cute.
But my cat Daisy is now watching with interest. I hope she does not attack the computer.

6. I tried to get my cat to look at the computer screen.
No luck. I do have "Video Catnip" a video of backyard bird footage that both of my cats go crazy over. Maybe I'll shake things up a bit and put it on for them.

8. Both my cats are crazy about watching birds but they are 6 months and a year old.
Blackberry and Daisy will go after anything that moves, I think.

19. Finally one of my cats emerged from wherever he hides
I've had "Video Catnip" playing for about 30min and finally he woke up enough to hear it. It's pawing at the squirrel on the TV now. The dogs of course are sleeping right through everything.

Looks like the hum-cam is frozen right now. So mama owl is fun to watch even though she's sleeping at the moment. :hi:

Last year a friend sent me the stork cam that was in Poland. Really cool.

Her egg that was pipping is gone, and the chat-people seem to think a lizard got it. :-(

35. Actually, she took it herself.
It clearly wasn't going to hatch so I guess she decided to get rid of it. Plucked it right out of the nest, she did.

36. I saw it.
She dive bombed the lizard and appeared to knock him off the branch, then swooped by and plucked out the egg herself. She's been agitated and hardly at the nest ever since.

But then comes back at 1:00:51 and removes the damaged egg. According to chatter on site, she hasn't been seen since.
