a rogue pResident and his supporting entourage. Titular head that he is, America sits and watches and accomplishes very little in the process.
Without the benefit of checks and measures, now for the most part, defunct, there appears to be no swift and functional response forthcoming.
The other branches of the Federal government would be our first recourse in re-establishing the historical and recent gains made to balance the elation so far, but for various reasons, they do not yet appear to be as aggressive and adamant as we need them to be. After all, these are pressing issues and we see the rogue bristle while fully exploiting his, for all intents and purposes, Executive coup. We see his current immunity and the pompous abandon that the effort has entitled him to. Emboldened and empowered, he stands as a mockery to the people. They appear, largely, to be unconcerned -- although greatly misinformed.
Why are these other branches not setting things straight to the degree necessary in light of the usurpation of the basics tenets and framework of our Constitution and governmental template? Are they afraid to rock the boat? Do they, for the most part, serve other interests? Are they neutered to such an extent that our collective hope of restoration and restitution become, in effect, non sequiturs framed and drowned-out by the corporate dominance of the MSM? Dare we admit that corporate America is either an unofficial branch of our government, or our government is more like a division of it?
In what many have appropriately called a Constitutional crisis that echoes profoundly in the assertion that it is merely a piece of paper, the response, so far, has been feeble and therefore, greatly out of proportion to the circumstance.
Who are we to have faith in and devote the fruits of our labor to when the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States is not executed faithfully and with all due diligence. So, the foundation is in the shredder and obscured by clouds of media, political newspeak, and the American capacity to easily be indoctrinated into newthink.
Manipulation works both overtly and subtly. It just plain works. So, do we disagree with Ben Franklin about what we deserve in regards to what we have traded our idea of "freedom" for? How far down this slippery slope do we now tread? Are we willing to compromise and easily ignore what is NOT accomplished, (read: inaction) and only put the emphasis on what new insult the Bush Administration has imposed with arrogance and immunity?
