What is the real goal of the right wing lunatic fringe?

It’s hard to say, because there are so many different flavors of wingnuts. There are a whole variety of “Jesus freak” sects, there are tea baggers, there are militia groups, there are people still fighting the Civil War, and there are those who want to secede from the U.S. and set up their own country. There’s no end to the various types of crazies who have come out of the woodworks. They have been there for years, even throughout Bush’s reign of terror. But Obama being in the White House has brought them out into the open.

These people are not a majority or even close to a majority. But as any military professional can tell you, an organized, well motivated minority can defeat tremendously overwhelming odds. And history has proven this to be true many times.

So what do these people want? It depends on which group you’re looking at. Some want to convert this country into some kind of Christian Utopia. Others are trying to bring on the Apocalypse. There are still rednecks around who thought slavery was a terrific idea. And the more militant nuts have something much deadlier in mind.

It goes without saying that if any of these groups attain power, they will get rid of their rival wingnut groups, as soon as they’re through “converting,” “reeducating,” or just plain getting rid of the rest of us. Nothing new here. It’s been going on for thousands of years.

And in the meantime, what are we, or especially the Justice Department, doing about it? As far as I can see, not much. We’ve got crazies like Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, Bachmann, and many others, in and out of government, encouraging the lunatic fringe and cheering them on.

I don’t know who said “Democracy is not a suicide pact.” But at this moment in time, I really need to be convinced of that. And I really think we have to start taking these crazies seriously, no matter how far out they may seem. They have their agendas and they are well geared up to implement them. We have whatever is left in our faith in government, which isn’t a lot.

So let’s hear your opinion. And just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t really after us.

The only hope of putting a stop to a military takeover is the military itself. Many would never go along with a military takeover of our country and we could end up seeing the greatest mutiny in the history of the world.

And I believe that's one of the reasons the Bush administration started using mercenaries like Blackwater (renamed today as XE). Mercenaries are interested in paychecks, not loyalties. I'm sure that when Bush (actually Cheney) started this mercenary madness, the main thing in his mind was financial profit for himself and his friends. But the fact that a mercenary army will do as they are told, is something that I'm sure occured to him.

I think some of them think they want a society that never existed anywhere, sort of a Norman Rockwell painting kind of place where everybody is white, straight, well-off in a nice, homey way; nobody questions authority or is "too intellectual"; everybody salutes the flag and goes to church on Sunday; and the women stay home with the kids. Google Southern Poverty Law Center, and take a look at what can be accomplished by a small, dedicated group of people who have a tremendous sense of right, wrong, and justice. And especially, a drive to defeat evil, whether it comes with a white sheet and hood, a cross, a gun, or a tea bag.
