Boehner implores Dems to 'make tough choice' and defeat healthcare bill

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) called for fellow lawmakers to "make tough choices" ahead of a planned Sunday healthcare vote.

Boehner, in the weekly GOP radio address, appealed to wavering Democrats to join Republicans to help defeat healthcare reform legislation.

"We were elected to make tough choices, not run from them," Boehner said. "And this vote is certainly one of the toughest."

Democrats hope to vote to pass health reform legislation on Sunday in what is expected to be a close vote with a razor-thin margin.

1. I can't imagine John Boehner being terribly effective in persuading

Democrats to vote against this bill.

My guess is that most people inside the Beltway consider Boehner to be an asshat.

in return for their vote. Only rhetoric to persuade. That won't get you far on The Hill.

The rushpublicans have benefitted from this debate as they've been able to buy and pollute the airwaves with their talking points and make Democrats look weak. Once this bill is passed, it's onto other issues and the GOOP will have shown how powerless they really are. The issues shitf, so does the focus and they lose all those talking points and air time.
