1. It probably won't hurt.

IF the Dems launch an effective PR campaign explaining just what the bill entails, especially the provisions that take immediate effect - financial help for small businesses to provide health insurance, elimination of pre-existing conditions and of the donut hole, and the guarantee that children can be covered by their parents' insurance policy until they are 26.

The people who would vote against Dems because of HCR are those who would vote against them anyway, IMO.

will be eligible to purchase insurance on the exchanges will be mad enough for it to have any effect. Most of the uninsured actually want access to purchase insurance. They've either been denied it for pre-existing conditions or can't afford it without the tax subsidies. A small number (I think that's half of the 5% who the CBO says won't be covered) will refuse to buy. Others will be exempt.

So, no. I don't think so.

If a sizable majority in your district opposes the legislation, that's obviously a risk.

The question is WHY they oppose it and whether other issues will take priority in their minds by November.
