Pat Boone is no stranger to hyperbole when it comes to opposing the American people’s choice at the ballot box. As millions suffer without health insurance he stands atop the bandwagon to ensure they stay that way. His political rhetoric has included dreaming of removing and replacing the current Commander in Chief and saying his Mama inflicted more physical pain on him as a child than waterboarding. He stops at nothing to make his point but at times seems to take what must have seemed a compelling argument in his mind and created cruel argument against compassion. In the end he provides a case study for editing one’s work. He follows his argument all the way down the rabbit hole, fights his way back out, then marvels at the mess he’s created.
Today is no different as he waxes sentimental in his WorldNetDaily column about his daughters' worthy efforts to help children with autism. An article about autism and the many noble organizations working to support families and their children could only be a good thing regardless of political affiliation. But Boone is only setting the table for his off the wall brand of political hate speech.
He begins by quoting his two daughters, apparently speaking in unison about their experience as volunteers at a ranch for learning disabled children:
"Daddy," they'd say, "these children are beautiful. They're intelligent, they look like the other kids, and they're physically healthy, just wonderful. But … they seem to be in some other world. They don't – it seems they can't – really focus on what we're trying to tell them, what we want them to do. Sometimes it's as if we don't exist. Some of the kids don't even look at us, and they don't want to be touched. Most seem to like doing certain things, but only their way, and no matter what anybody else is doing. We just can't seem to get through to them, no matter what we try."
And quite often, they'd shed tears over the seeming hopelessness of it all.

He makes his ‘diagnosis’:
Whatever the cause (and I think I've diagnosed it), many of our elected leaders in Congress are behaving as if they've contracted a kind of "political autism." They seem strangely divorced from reality, out of touch with the people who elected them, unable to think rationally. They've collectively abandoned common sense and embarked on some wildly unreasonable courses, seemingly oblivious to the protests and outcries of a majority of American citizens, the very people whom they swore to represent and whose security and well-being they pledged to protect.
The problem with this kind of rhetoric is it must work from either side. So Boone is essentially arguing that autistic children lack ‘common sense’ are ‘strangely divorced from reality’ and ‘unable to think rationally’.

Ultimately, Boone goes all in, saying that providing health coverage for the uninsured is,
‘Worse than autism … it's insanity!”
Glad he cleared that up.
