I am so confused about the vote today. When exactly does the
"abomination to God" kick in? Will there be a smiting? Is there a Richter scale for smitings? If so, where does this abomination rank? I have library materials that need to go back today. Should I bother? Tomorrow is garbage day. Should I take it to the curb? I can skip ironing until I see how this shakes out, but should I start the roast for dinner? (Incidentally, I am a male, but I do cook and iron sometimes).

1. 2 hours of procedural debate to bring the measures to the floor
followed by 2 hours of debate on the measures, themselves, an hour break for supper, the earliest the vote can happen is 7PM-8PM EDT.

But you do know how those old boys love the sound of their own voices. This could go on until midnight with old boys violating rules and screaming bloody murder about how Democrats doing what they were elected to do is "totalitarianism."

I will never vote for a single Republican again in my life, I don't give a shit how good he or she is or how local the office is.

That party needs to die a shameful death.

4. I would change my sig line if someone would give me the Latin
for "The Republican Party must be shamefully destroyed." I made the "never vote for a Republican vow" after the 2000 Election. I voted for a local shlock jock called "Bubba the Love Sponge" for Sheriff rather than vote for a Repuke.

5. I thought I was going to have to vote for one in 2008
He was a former DA who was running for state senate and someone I knew to be a great guy and a great former DA. Lo and behold! He changed parties and ran as a Democrat.

The last GOP I voted for was Ed Brooke in Mass and only because he was more liberal than the idiot Democrat who ran against him. The next time, Tsongas ran and Brooke lost my vote.

My record since then has been clean, no Republicans.

2. Smiting occurs sometime after 8:30 this evening.
If you can get all you need to get down before then, you will be fine. Or, tune into CSpan as the list is in process of who will be smitten... or smited at that time.

6. Thanks, the roast was terrific and everything but the ironing of
a few shirts is done. If I was in charge of consumer protection I require an 18 point warnings on packaging "WARNING THIS SHIRT MUST BE IRONED" and "WARNING THIS SHIRT HAS REMOVABLE COLLAR STAYS" twenty four point if they are clear plastic that is nearly invisible if you are over fifty.

It might be "smote" I think "smitten" means "having the hots for."

7. Smitten... smote. Both wonderful words from the same root... :)
Collar stays are always lost. I don't know why they can't design shirts without them.
