Health Insurance is a bad bad idea. Medicare for all is a good idea, saves money, no preexisting conditions EVER, no fat to CEOS, and no taxpayer dollars to CEOs who donate to congress.

Passing a bill that makes insurance companies richer and more powerful makes the situation even
worse for the citizen.

No bill means basically the same thing. At least we've got the door open, and we must continue to keep pressure on Congress to make health care reform better.

Without this, it will be years before it's even mentioned again. I'm not happy with the current bill at all, but I also don't want health care put on the back burner for another couple of decades before someone is courageous enough to tackle it again.

The reality of an individual mandate (when coupled with subsidies so that insurance is affordable and market reforms so that coverage is accessible), is that it would not only address the "free rider" problem, but also serve as a tool to enhance insurance market competition. When combined with market reforms and subsidies, the mandate would help move insurers away from a business model that relies on marketing and underwriting and towards a strategy that involves competing for customers based on performance and price. This is a good thing...and something those in favor of market competition could get behind.

Then will be time to pick up the fight against the insurance behemoth. Encourage your healthy friends without insurance to remain so. If enough people choose the penalty over the forced insurance payments, the industry will lose some ground. Then offer extension medicare to those 50+ so the poor widdle insurance industry won't be "burdened" with the expense of a needier group. :evilgrin:

Social security was enacted in 1935. Since then there have been some
20 improvement changes made on it. The same thing will happen to the
HCR bill.
