changed today.
Teddy Roosevelt first suggested health care reform 100 years ago.
FDR, Truman, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Clinton all spoke about the need for health care reform or flat out fought in vain to change it.
Remember Bill Clinton's health ID card? I liked his plan. Sadly, it went down in defeat.
17 YEARS later..
Today, we took the first step toward reforming HC. This isn't universal HC for all, not yet. But this will lay the groundwork for building a national health care system in the future. It will need reform and will need many amendments in the future.
However long it takes to fully achieve Single Payer/Medicare for all, I'm in for the long haul. It will be a long fight.
I DON'T WANT TO WAIT ANOTHER 17 YEARS TO START OVER FROM SQUARE 1.
We started square 1 today.
1 step at a time. 1 reform at a time. 1 amendment(+1,000 earmarks) at a time.
We will reform health care. Apparently 1 slow step at a time. So be it.
It starts today. HCR starts today. I'm angry that there is no PO in this bill. But there maybe one created one day. I'm mad that INS Co's still have their anti-trust exemption. But maybe one day Dems will grow a spine and repeal that exemption.
I do not feel defeated by any means.
I'm turning my attention to the primary system next. Who we nominate for the general election in Nov will be crucial to future reform.
A lot of people have worked their ass off for this moment. This bill ain't perfect. But it is a start.
No one wants to wait another 17 years to start from square 1. Right?
It starts today.
Peace
