2. My guess would be they're mostly religious. Most religions agr against

abortion. I an a practicing Catholic and although I would never consider an abortion for myself, I don't believe I have the right to force my beliefs on everyone else. that is why I'm so opposed to the RW anti abortion arguments. I agree with them that we sould be against it, but it shouldnt be involved in government at all! That should be left up to the ministers & priests to convince people on their views, but not laws or government!

Middle-aged white men? Control, misogyny. The basic goal here is reestablishing male control over the womb, nothing particularly complicated there.

Women - and they come in all ages for this crowd - are often even more deeply misogynist than men. Nothing disgusts them like a woman. Possibly due to their own parents' misogyny or something, who knows, I just know that women are often quite horrible to one another. Anyway in this group, we basically find two categories - the ultra-religious wannabe mommy who wants to "save all their little souls" and feels, without any real duplicity, that she's on a holy mission to bring all the little aborted babies to god. They're the minority. The majority is simply women who feel that all other women are sluts and whores, and that pregnancy is a punishment for sex, and that other women should suffer the consequences.

As for the "haves"... Got me. I imagine most of them are doing it for PR reasons, sort of like the folks who go to church just to show that, hey, we're going to church. I imagine you'll find most of them don't actually care one way or another, and are actually just "going with the flow" - and since the money party is on the side of the crazy anti-choicers, well, that's politics.

10. and additionally, re the 'haves'

they know they can 'fight abortion' all they want, and they will never themselves be hurt by lack of access to abortion. It is also a socio-economic war against the low/middle classes - which is why they are also anti-contraception. (Granted, few of them probably THINK of it in those terms, but parse through all their rationalizations and that's what you find - it is attitudinaly unconscious, in the same way that "let them eat cake" and "why should I trouble my beautiful mind..." are.
