Can hospitals receiving federal money still prescribe Emergency Contraception to rape victims

under this legislation and the Executive Order?

I really don't know the answer...:shrug:

My point is that the hardliners on abortion DO NOT AGREE that "contraception is not abortion."

Birth Control is not abortion.

Morning After Pill is no more an abortion than a condom is.

10. We had a brutal fight here in CT over what the RC church "thinks."

Catholic hospitals wanted to test rape victims to see if they were ovulating. If they were, the hospital would send those rape victims who wished to have EC to another, non-Catholic hospital. Their rationale was that if the woman was ovulating and fertilization had taken place as a result of the rape, EC would interfere with implantation.

5. I'll bet that Bart Stupak would beg to differ as the hardliners have always done on EC.

I agree with you but these people believe life starts at fertilization, not implantation of the fertilzed ovum.

Hence even under the logic that life begins at fertilization EC are not abortions.

Essentially EC is little more than a super powerful dose of normal birth control pill.

Lveonorgesteral for example contains 15x to 30x daily birth control dosage of progestin.

3. Hyde Amendment applies

The EO only reiterates that amendment to apply to this bill. AFAIK federally-funded abortions are still ok for instances of rape,incest and when the health of the mother is in danger.
